App/Game #1 [Fruit Ninja]

Ok well here I go with my app/game review type of thing. This is just a series I'm starting where I'm going to post up either my faveourite app/game or post up new and upcoming apps which deserve to be noticed. If you guys have any apps which you think I should do, let me know through either email (oliurrahman14@googlemail.com) or Twitter . Fruit Ninja Fruit Ninja for Android on AppBrain For anyone who ain't tried this out you need to right now! It's a brilliant game and for the price it is at the moment it's totally worth it. I've found it to be really addictive and just great fun. For now there's only two modes, "Classic" and "Zen Mode". In the "Classic" mode you've got to go for as long as you can without hitting any bombs that fly up on to the screen and without missing any fruit as well. It obviously gets harder the more you get into it. In the "Zen" mode you get a set time limit of 1:30 and you

LG Optimus To Allow WiFi Calling!

Although the specifications of the LG Optimus are nothing special, especially in today's mobile industry, one key feature definitely stands out. This device will allow you to make phone calls over WiFi! If this feature could be ported to other devices, could this be the Mobile Skype we've all been waiting for?

Droid Incredible 2 Second Boot!

One ROM maker working on the HTC Incredible has self-created a method of booting up the Droid Incredible in 2 seconds - very impressive!

HTC Glacier details leaked!

Details of HTC's dual-core device, the HTC Glacier have been leaked, with speculation that its release will lead to a 'mobile speed war' in 2011 (bad for phone manufacturers, good for us?). The HTC Glacier is said to be released by the end of 2010 and is reported to be 3 times faster than the fastest device on the market, speeds which can only be realized with a dual-core processor model. Qualcomm (processor manufacturer) has been shipping samples of the new Dual-Core Snapdragon processor to its partners (including HTC). With Google set to release GingerBread (3.0) in October with a 1.0GHz processor as minimum, we are sure to see more beefed up devices being released to meet these requirements. Both HTC and Motorola have announced they will be using the new dual-core processors by the end of 2010. But the question remains, on how well the battery will cope with this turbo-speed boost. So let's also hope to see some new battery technology so that we can actually make the

Facebook Alternative?

Facebook, with over 500,000 million registered users and 500,000 new users every day, there's no way anyone could compete. Facebook contains an ever-growing amount of personal information about each and every one of its users. The average user spends more than 3 hours a day using its services and most people swear by it. So who can compete? who exactly provides a service that millions of people rely on, that contains all the information you could ever need, that knows so much about you that they could tailor EVERYTHING to you? I'll tell you who, Google. Google Wave was a disaster, not accepted by consumers even Google admits it was a bust. But what it did do was give Google a taste of what is required. If Google manages to correctly integrate all the services it provides (search, maps, street view, translate, sky-maps, youtube, gmail, docs etc) which are used by millions daily, then it could give itself a strong position in the social networking industry. However, if Google doe

Coming soon: Charging over WiFi!

Airnergy, a new system from electronics company RCA hopes to make a breakthrough which would make all charging cables and plugs obsolete. Charging a device remotely using WiFi signals. The first device has already been released, although this still isn't anything special. It is a WiFi Hotspot that charges itself, meaning its battery life will never die as long as it is surrounded by WiFi signals (which doesn't seem to be a problem nowadays). Although the device works off Wi-Fi signals, considering that the frequency is almost identical to that of a cordless phone, that it is very possible it could use ANY electromagnetic noise to charge from. What Airnergy hope to do, is to implement this technology into devices such as mobile phones and computers, the result being a device with an everlasting battery, a purchase which I personally, will make.

Facebook is secretly building a phone! [Update: It's not happening]

Several sources who have knowledge of Facebook have officially stated that it is secretly building its own mobile phone! Facebook has hired several experts, all of which possess deep technical knowledge of operating systems and phones, to work on the project. One of which was involved in the building of Mozilla FireFox, Google Chrome, and assisted in the creation of several phone Operating Systems. The main aim of Facebook is to get this device to everyone, so a retail price around $50 is expected, and contracts/payments could be paid with the all new 'Facebook credits.' This Facebook device could turn out to be a great success, considering that they already own thousands of their own apps, have a huge customer base, and are said to be working with partners such as Spotify! So stay tuned for the holiday season for the release! Update: Facebook themselves have come out and said that this is not true and that they are only finding ways to intergrate Facebook deeper into mo

HTC Desire - SLCD vs AMOLED

Image
If you'll recall, a little while back HTC waved its white flag amid  AMOLED shortages  and  made the jump  to the readily-available SLCD for its Desire and Nexus One handsets. As a quick recap, here's what CEO  Peter Chou  said about the swap: "The SLCD displays provide consumers with a comparable visual experience to HTC's current 3.7 inch displays with some additional benefits including battery performance." So, just how "comparable" is the SLCD? To find out, we picked up both flavors of the  Desire  to perform some comparison tests. Let's start off with the picture quality: what caught our attention straight away was how much sharper SLCD is, but alas, AMOLED is still in the lead for vibrancy and brightness. We dug a little deeper and learned that this has to do with the different pixel arrangements on the two types of panels -- unlike traditional TFT LCD panels, AMOLED's PenTile RGBG (red, green, blue, green, etc.) filter matrix utilizes jus

Google Walking Navigation beta and Street View now available for Android

Image
" Man, we're starting to think   Google   should just host an I/O event every month. As the search giant continues to roll out new   innovations , today's introduction involves none other than   Android . Starting today, folks with Android phones using version 1.6 or greater have a pair of must-downloads to tackle: Walking Navigation (Beta) and Street View smart navigation. The former is bundled into Google Maps for Mobile 4.5, offering pedestrians a more robust routing option when using their own two feet to maneuver from place to place. It's still in beta, obviously, but we're definitely digging the "vibrate to turn" alert and the map's ability to rotate with you as you turn the phone. Street View smart navigation is the same stuff you're used to seeing on a bona fide desktop browser, but tailor made for operation on your smartphone. Finally, the new Google Maps search bar will make it even easier to find places you're in need of finding, a

Swear every other Forum hates me! hahaha!

Well here we go again. I signed up to droidforums.net today, posted my work up on there and stuff. But they removed all my donation links from all my posts, even my signature. Apparently I have to become one of their "themers" to be able to put any donation links. At least they haven't given me an infraction....well not yet =P. Oh well it looks like the best forum in the world is XDA. I love you XDA and all the people on there, given me a lot of support! And there a lot easier on what you post and how you post it.

Popular Forums?

Does anyone know any popular forums which you would like to share with everyone on my blog? I would like to get my work out there to more and more people. I post a lot of free stuff on XDA but not a lot of people seem kind enough to donate, not even a small amount ='[. Which I personally think is quite a shame but hey what can you do. A big thanks to all the people that have donated though, every single donation is appreciated a lot and gets me even more motivated to bring out more stuff for you people. If anyone knows how I can get people to pay a small amount for my work or just get my work out there let me know!

Android Forum Infraction?

Hahahaha. I just received an infraction on androidforums.com. I've only been on there two days. Apparently I got it because I put a link to my blog in one of my posts. I do that all the time on XDA, don't see them giving me an infraction. Here's the original message they sent me,

Samsung Galaxy Tab

Image
My take on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.  Well me being an Android lover I can't explain how brilliant this thing looks! The design of it is just fantastic, so stylish and very minimal which is right up my street. I read on Engadget that apparently the touch responsiveness is on par with the (I hate to mention it) iPad. And apparently it's thinner than the iPad!  Really want to get hold of one of these and try it out, see how it feels and how good it really is. One thing that really put me off though was the price, I saw somewhere that it was £679.99. I mean like that is ridiculously highly priced. That's nearly the price of the iPad Wifi + 3G 64GB model. But then you can argue that it comes with things such as a camera and you can literally make calls with it. There isn't an earpiece though so you'll have to use a bluetooth headset or a pair of headphones. Head over the break for more on this!
