Here we are with another written review for the HTC Desire Car Charger & Holder from MobileFun.co.uk.
I will also do a video review on this when I get some time so keep up to date with it all.

Head over the break for the full review.
Well first of all this car charger and holder isn't made by HTC themselves. I don't know who it's made by for sure but I'm guessing it's made by MobileFun.co.uk themselves.

In the package (if you haven't already seen the unboxing, check it out here) comes a car holder for the phone a micro-usb charger which could potentially be used across other micro-usb devices. The packaging was very plain and simple which I personally sometimes think is a good thing because then there is less waste to throw away. For all the eco-friendly people out there, all the packaging I think is recyclable.

The charger and holder itself is very plastic but it is priced at only £18.47 so don't be expecting real quality materials. The plastic is very strong though and will definitely last, very rigid and hard.

The holder you can either stick to your windscreen or dashboard, I've stuck it to the windscreen as you can see because my dashboard curves a lot so the suction mount can't get a hold of the dashboard. It is bendable in two places to provide many different angles. Also you can turn the phone from portrait to landscape, you do have to put quite a bit of force into turning it which makes it feel like it's going to break but it doesn't and stays strong and stuck to the windscreen. To move the phone to different angles buttons are needed to be pressed which release it from being locked in different positions.

Here is a picture showing which parts of the holder move and which way.

Now on to the charger. I've got to say I weren't really impressed with the charger. When I was navigating in Google Maps the charger just couldn't keep up with charging the phone at the same time. Obviously it lasted longer than not charging at all but if you're going to be navigating for quite a while your battery will drain out. This has also been stated on reviews for this product on the MobileFun.co.uk website. From the reviews I've read on there people are saying you're better off buying the official charger by HTC themselves which keeps up with the pace.

Overall though the product isn't amazing but it's good enough. If you need a basic car holder and will be only navigating and such for short periods of time then it should be fine. The holder is very sturdy and will keep your device in place. But if you're going to be using your device to make calls, navigate and listen to music for long periods of time you may need to buy the HTC charger to keep the battery charged throughout your journey.
