GMail New UI Redesign & How To Get It

The developers behind the GMail team have given out a quick preview of the new GMail redesign which will be available to everyone soon.


It looks as though all Google services and products are getting UI redesigns to give a more cleaner and minimal look.

About a month back I posted a GMail redesign concept which does look a bit similar to what Google have done. However it is definitely not a direct copy.

You can get the new look through a theme which Google have released for everyone to use and here is how to get it:
  1. Go into your GMail
  2. Go to the top right and click on an icon which looks like a little cog, then click on mail settings
  3. You should then see a bunch of tabs, click on the themes tab
  4. There should be two themes at the bottom of the grid called "Preview" and "Preview (Dense)"
  5. Choose either to get the new GMail look
There still may be some bugs so if you see some weird stuff going on in your GMail it may be because of the theme.

I personally love what Google is doing here with the redesigns, everything looks a lot more cleaner and sharper. A lot less clutter.
