MICRO-USB PORTABLE CHARGER [1500mAh] REVIEW

We see a lot of portable chargers out there in the market today but it's hard to choose the right one and to decide which one will be most useful. Here we have one which MobileFun.co.uk sent out to me. They send me out a lot of stuff so please do visit their website for the latest mobile and tablet accessories.

Pros:
- Cheaper than most other portable chargers
- Very small and very portable
- Will fit any microUSB device, nearly all Android devices have microUSB ports. Even Nokia devices have microUSB now

Cons:
- Feels quite cheap and plasticky
- Takes a long time to charge
- Doesn't actually provide the full 1500mAh

Specs:
Capacity - 1500mAh
Input Current - 500mA Max
Output Current - 800mA Max
Dimensions - 61mm x 53mm x 17mm
Weight - 52g
Charge time - 2-4 hours

The charger first of all is quite thick, but not too thick to look silly when you have it in your pocket. It also isn't much of a looker. It's made out of a cheap plastic which doesn't help. Even if the plastic just had a glossy shine to it, it might have it made it better looking.

The first picture shows a little icon where you can press down telling you how much charge there is left in the charger. Also the "Full" bit tells you when the charger is fully charged obviously.

One great thing about this portable charger is that it has a microUSB connector. Nearly all modern smartphones and tablets these days have microUSB ports so this portable charger is quite universal and will work across a number of different devices.

When connected to my HTC Desire you can see that the charger is upside down and this is because of the microUSB connector. For some odd reason when HTC made the HTC Desire they turned the microUSB port upside down so it isn't a fault in anyway but that HTC turned the port upside down.

Now onto how the battery performs. I tried charging my HTC Desire from flat with the portable charger (obviously when the portable charger is at full capacity) but it only charged my device to around 50%. The portable charger has a capacity of 1500mAh which is 100mAh more than my standard HTC battery so it should have charged it all the way up and still have some left over. This was quite a disappointment because it seems as though the charger actually has a capacity of around 700mAh. I tried doing this twice but came out with the same results. It may just be a fault with the one I got but who knows.

I would not really recommend this to anyone and would say that you should invest in a better option. But if you are looking for a cheap one that just can add a bit more life to your device than sure go ahead. It's cheap compared to other portable chargers and can do the job but not as well as it should.
